At the start of a project, I turn to my sketchbook. I view moodboards as digital notetaking. I’ve even drizzled chocolate to get an accurate logo. Below you’ll find some of my projects in the earliest stages.
Throughout each project, I look to the real world to find inspiration and answers that help shape the results of the project. These have included:
Walking around a city to see architectures, stores, and other landmarks
Creating board games out of paper to test how a group would play
Surveying over 200 people about their town and what is important to them
Prototyping nametags to help communicate students’ needs during tutoring
Interviewing prominent members of the community to gain insight
Two examples of my use of research can be found in projects Loving Our City & The History Spot. Be sure to scroll to the Process button at the bottom of the page for a detailed look.
For some projects, the final outcome communicates using hand-drawn images.
